Jesus the Light of the world

It's Christmas! What a lovely time to remind you about the most important person in the world, Jesus Christ. What do you associate with Christmas? Jesus Christ? Baby Jesus?  Christmas trees, decorations? Family? Time to give? Throughout this month of December, I will be sharing messages about who Jesus is. Today's focus is on Jesus, the Light of the world.

I'd like to ask you a question. What's more beautiful and fascinating? The light or darkness? Imagine your house without light, would you prefer your house to be with light or would you prefer to live and walk in darkness? I am certain that you'd prefer your house to have light so that you can see clearly, perhaps to avoid accidents and also to see all the beautiful things that are around your house.

Do you know that Jesus is the Light? God associates sins and evil with darkness. Jesus Christ came into the world as the Light to dispel darkness and to destroy the works of the enemy. Jesus Christ came into the world so that you can see and live a life that dispels darkness in your everyday living.

Without Jesus Christ, people will follow a path of darkness.  Jesus Christ was born so that we can depend on Him to give us this special Light. We need His light for direction, to see, to shine, and to live. This Light gives us life.  This Light will help us to reign eternally with Christ. No wonder Jesus Christ said that He is the Light of the world and whoever follows him will never walk in darkness, but will have the light that gives life (John 8:12). Would you like to walk in this Light?

Do you know that the Light of God destroyed the works of the devil in the life of Mary Magdalene (Luke 8:1-3)? Jesus Christ cured Mary Magdalene of seven demons. Before Jesus Christ came into her life, Mary was living in darkness; her life was without meaning. However, when Jesus Christ shone His Light on her, her life had meaning again.

When the Light of God comes into your life:

1) You will appreciate the wonderful things that the Lord has made
2) You will clearly see that you are beautiful and wonderfully made
3) You will not be confused about who you are as the Light of God will help you to see clearly
4) You will see that the only way to heaven is through walking in the Light.
5) You will shine for God through your character and lifestyle.

Ephesians 5:13-14 says: "But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore, it says, "Awake, O sleeper and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."

Prayer
Dear Jesus, thank you for being the Light of the world. Please, let your light shine in me and through me. Let your light shine in my family and through my family. Jesus, be the centre of my life.

Have a lovely week!
