Prison Break | The Praise Gate

Welcome  to a new week, the last week of the month of August. May the end of August be greater than the beginning of August in Jesus' name. Thanks to Mysses Lafunky who took over for the last two weeks. As always, there was a lot to learn from her and one of the learning points that stayed with me is that it’s not enough to just confess and confess, we also need to forsake! Make sure you read it again. Last week, I had the privilege of seeing Bishop T.D. Jakes at the House on the Rock Spirit Life Conference titled: "Emerge." It was powerful! May you emerge in every area of your life in Jesus' name. 

"Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful." Psalms‬ 147:1‬ NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

One of the key parts of the conference was that we spent a lot of time praising God. Praise is very key when we are trying to get into God’s presence or get Him to move in our situation. It is so important that God expects us to praise him regardless of the situation we are going through. There used to be this popular song when I was a child about how Paul and Silas prayed and sang and the prison they were kept in came tumbling down (Acts 16:25-26). Imagine these unruly fellows singing praises in prison. Little did they know that it would cause the prison to fall apart. I’d daresay that the prison fell apart because God was dancing to their praise and His movements caused the earthquake that destroyed the prison. When you want God to move and scatter your enemies, switch to praise. Why? When you praise a person, it causes their head to "swell". When you go for "owambes," on your way out, you meet bands that sing praises upon praises and if you’re not careful you’d drop your entire wallet for them. When human beings are praised, it causes them to move. Human beings were created in the likeness of God which means we also took that character trait from Him; the trait of loving praises. One man that understood the importance of praise was King David. Yup, that same David. The one known as the man after God’s heart. When you read the book of psalms, a lot of the chapters deal with Him praising God for His might and power. When you get to the end of the book of Psalms, the last set of chapters dealt with praising God and he ended the book of Psalms with this: 

"Praise the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament! Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness! Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp! Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes! Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!" Psalms‬ 150:1-6‬ NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

I love how he ended the book of Psalms: “let everything that has breath praise the Lord”. He started the last chapter by listing where we should praise God, then moved to why we should praise God. He then told us how to praise God by basically calling all types of instruments and concluded the matter by saying as long as you have breath, praise the Lord!

For a man of war, you’d wonder why David spoke so much about praise. The last 5 chapters of the book of Psalms (NKJV) ended with Praise the Lord! There’s a reason Paul and Silas praised God in the prison. It is because they understood the foundational principle that every praise belongs to God regardless of where we find ourselves and when we get stuck, praise is the key to getting us out of that sticky situation. One key thing you must note is that Paul and Silas didn’t just pray, they also praised. The praise was listed after the prayer and it came as the second gear in their prison session. When the second gear kicked in, God started dancing and there was a great earthquake. I have also personally witnessed the power of praise in my life as there were many times I couldn’t even pray but thank God I’m such a music lover. I always made sure I praised Him regardless of how down I felt and I saw how walls were broken down for me. What is that situation you’ve been stuck in for so long? Praise your way out of it. 

The charge therefore as we go into this week is to be praise machines and look for all sorts of reasons to praise the Lord! Praise the Lord for He is good and His Mercy endures forever (Ps. 106:1 NKJV). If you feel there’s no reason to praise God, I’ll assume you no longer have breath but as long as you have breath, praise Him for that fact alone.

Confess and Forsake

Hello Readers & Followers,

I sincerely apologise for the delay in sharing this week's post. I had a very busy weekend; it was my wedding anniversary and also my birthday, it was a double celebration that was filled with so many activities.

My husband and I reflected on the beauty of marriage, an institution created by God for:

1. A loyal partnership between one man and one woman, 
2. An institution that mirrors God's covenant relationship with His children,
3. A foundation for building a family and
4. An institution designed by God for sexual expression to help married couples to build intimacy.

My husband and I concluded that practically applying biblical principles will give the marriage a stronger foundation at all times.

I don't know if you have heard a saying that the first year of marriage is very difficult. This saying is actually unbiblical and has no basis in the Word of God. The Bible says that the righteous shall live by his faith and not by what other people profess to be the truth (Paraphrased) meaning that as Christians, we should not allow what some people say influence how we live our lives but rather be confident in God's Word and allows God's Word to guide how we live and do things within the marriage and outside of the marriage. To the glory of God, I can say my first year of marriage was not difficult but rather it was beautiful and full of various adventures and blessings from God.

Back to this week's post about Confessing and Forsaking.

To confess is to admit and accept that you have done something wrong.

To forsake is to renounce or give up something, to leave and abandon something forever.

God wants you to always ensure that you confess any wrong doing, bad habit and sin to Him. He does not want you to keep confessing without turning away from those things that you are confessing but rather God would like you to Confess and Forsake those sins. The Bible says in Ezekiel 33:11 that: 

"Say to them, 'As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD,

I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked,

but rather that they turn from their ways and live.

Turn! Turn from your evil ways!

Why will you die, people of Israel?' "

Are you wondering who the wicked are? According to God's Word, the wicked are those who reject God, those who forget God, those who choose to dishonour God's Word by not living by what the Word of God says, those that are arrogant, proud, greedy, those that do not confess and forsake their sins, and those that do not worship God through their way of lives (Psalm 9:17, Psalm 10:2-11). 

God is telling you today to repent and turn back, so that He can wipe away your sins (Acts 3:19). In other words, God is telling you to change your mind and attitude to Him, change your ways and Turn to Him so He can cleanse away your sins and restore you and also bless you. Not forsaking sins can hinder your progress in life. 

Conclusion 

The charge therefore for this week is to live a life that forsakes the things that God does not like. Also, for you to let others know the importance of confessing and forsaking their sins. God loves you and He desires for you to confess and forsake your sins.

How Are You Known in Your Neighbourhood?

Hello Readers & Followers. How is the new month going? Trust it's going well. It's being a while we read your comments even though we know you are reading. As you all know that it's being a while that I have written on the blog, this is due to caring for my baby. Initially, I felt terrible for not being able to balance a number of things that I did with regards to my service to God. Nevertheless, God encouraged me with a scripture in Ecclesiastes 3:1 which says that there's a time for everything and everything on earth has its special season. With that encouragement, I made a decision to enjoy this season of my life and to be guided by the Holy Spirit on how and when I am to offer my service unto God. Sage and my husband have been really helpful with the blog; they ensured that articles were posted every Monday to build our faith. I pray the Lord will reward them accordingly in Jesus' name.

This week, I would like to encourage everyone of us to be a good neighbour and to consider how we are known in our neighbourhood. 

Do you know your neighbours? Do you know their names? If not, this week, I would like you to come out of your comfort zone or busy schedules and take a step by saying hello to your neighbours and introducing yourself to them. You may discover that you have common interests.

We can take a couple of lessons from the story of the good Samaritan where Jesus Christ encouraged us to go and be a good neighbour like the good Samaritan.

A couple of lessons that we can implement from the good Samaritan are:

• We are to show love and compassion for those we encounter on this earth.
• We are to love others regardless of their race, religion, gender, etc.
• If we are in a position to give, we are to give cheerfully without expecting something back from the person we gave to as God will reward us (Luke 6:35).

About two years ago, where I had previously lived, one of my neighbours was absolutely amazing and helpful, he exhibited beautiful good works that I appreciated. Every Tuesday, the bin men collected our refuse, my neighbour had observed that I lived alone and I was usually out of the house very early in the morning and returned home late. You won't believe what he did, he took it upon himself to put my refuse wheelie bin back to its base albeit I didn't ask for his help. He undertook this task every Tuesday on my behalf for about a year. I ensured that I regularly expressed my gratitude to him.

Let me share how I have been a good neighbour. Keep reading to find out...

I noticed how my husband took it upon himself to introduce himself to our neighbours when we moved to where we reside, this also gave me the courage to follow suit. Last Christmas, we shared Christmas cards with our neighbours and we shared the beautiful apples from our garden. 

One thing that I have noticed with my neighbours is the fact that we try as much as possible to show acts of love and kindness to one another. For example, I have noticed that the postman automatically brings people's parcels and big posts for me to keep for them until they return home. It dawned on me that if my neighbours had been horrible towards us, I probably would not be too keen to collect their parcels for them. Likewise, they wouldn't want to collect our own parcels for us if we had been horrible towards them. No wonder God told us that we should not plan to hurt our neighbours who lives nearby...(Proverbs 3:29).

Have you ever been guilty of hurting your neighbours? Do you live at peace with your neighbours? Living at peace with your neighbours is a sign that you are living the way Jesus expects you to live and to show His love.

The charge therefore for this week is for you to do something extraordinary for your neighbours and take time to show an act of love to your neighbours. I have given a few examples below.

• If you do not know your neighbour's names, start by saying hello and introduce yourself. Christmas is on the way, why not buy Christmas cards for your neighbours. They sell cards that says Merry Christmas to my neighbours or to my neighbours on Christmas and sign it with your names, this way your neighbours will get to know your names.
• Grab every opportunity to do good and be a blessing if you are in a position to.
• Pray for your neighbours.
• Participate in any community activities that you are able to.
• Keep a lovely smile.
• Finally, be a good neighbour to anyone you come in contact with.

His Mercy Endures Forever

First Monday in August, blink and you’ll be in December. For those of us that made New Year resolutions, how far have you gone in achieving them? I’m far behind in mine 🙈. Hope you enjoyed our post last week? Did you produce any good fruit? I thank God for the strength to produce the fruit of self-control despite the things that came up. This week, I’ll continue working on the fruit. All the best working on your chosen fruit for this week. To the matter for today.

"Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Let Israel now say, 'His mercy endures forever.' Let the house of Aaron now say, 'His mercy endures forever.' Let those who fear the LORD now say, 'His mercy endures forever.'" Psalms‬ 118:1-4‬ NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬

When you watch certain movies especially war movies or series like Game of Thrones, you frequently hear the cries of mercy, mercy just before the person is killed but God is not like that. We are all under His power and when we cry mercy, He hears our cry. 

As human beings, we will always do things that require us to ask for mercy. Even when our conscience tells us that we deserve the pending judgement we still ask for mercy. That’s because we know that, oh boy!, if we don’t get mercy, "it go rough." Ironically, even when we want to ask for mercy, the same conscience then tells you that you don’t even deserve the mercy. That’s why Ps. 118 breaks it down for us. It starts by telling us that God is good and His mercy endures forever. It then proceeds to break it down into three categories of people: 

1. Those belonging to Israel
2. Those belonging to the house of Aaron
3. Those who fear the Lord

You will definitely find yourself somewhere in there. What does it do? It serves as a reminder to those belonging to any of these categories that the mercy of the Lord endures forever. Not for a while, not when you’re being the perfect Christian, not before you commit that sin but forever. Before, during and after whatever it is that we’ve done, the mercy is there waiting for us to ask for it. It is important to note here that the entire Ps. 136 is dedicated to letting us know that His mercy endures forever. The key though is that mercy exists but we are to seek it and ask for it. That means that there’s a place we are to go to in order to seek it. 

"Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." Hebrews‬ 4:16‬ NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬

In order to obtain mercy, we are to go before the throne of grace. Even though the verse says ‘the throne,’ it doesn’t exist in a particular place. All you have to do is pray and call out to God for mercy. When we go into the place of prayer, we are going before the throne of grace. I also love how translations like the MSG and NIV versions substitute the word mercy for love. In essence God’s mercy and His love are one and the same and because He loves us, He will always have mercy on us. 

The charge therefore as we go into this week is to not allow the devil or our conscience deceive us into thinking that we’ve done so many wrong things or that mercy does not exist for the sin we’ve just committed. Simply go before the throne of grace and obtain mercy. Ask God for forgiveness and invite Him into your heart. No sin is too great, no mistake is too costly to keep us away from the mercy of God. God has assured us of His love and in assuring us of His love, He has assured us of His mercy. What a good good father.

What Fruit are You Bearing?

Welcome to the start of another great week and the last day of the month of July; time does fly! I recently got feedback from a friend asking that I tried to shorten the length of the posts, so I’m going to put in the effort to make sure it’s as short as possible 😊. Thanks to everyone that takes out the time to read and share; we would appreciate your comments in order to better improve the quality of the posts. As per learner and all.

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them." Matthew‬ 7:15-20‬ NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

The Tree

There are so many fruits in the world. My favourite fruit is the apple. It’s also the favourite fruit of pirates and sailors. It’s juicy and crunchy at the same time and oh so delicious. However, there are certain fruits I’ll never ever try e.g. water melon….eww! Don’t know how people enjoy such a fruit. In order for there to be fruits, we need to have trees. No tree, no fruit; that’s the cycle of nature. There are however certain rules God put in place to govern nature and as such, an apple tree will never produce water melon. Therefore, in order to bear fruits, we need to be trees. So the real question here is, what sort of tree are you? Are you a tree unto life or a tree unto death? Do you bring joy to people or do you bring sadness? Do people bless God when they see you or do they hiss and wonder how on Earth a human being like you could exist? Last week, the focus of the message I kept getting from God was to work on my character and I came to learn that character at times can either quicken or slow down the answers to our prayers. Going by this, in order to be a good tree, you need to have the right character because without this, you will never bear good fruits. 

The Fruit

In one of my favourite movies, Kingsmen, there’s a scene in which the Kingsmen agent says: "manners maketh man". In our passage for today, it says that a good tree can never bear bad fruit and vice versa. Think about it, when you’re looking for help would you go to a stingy person? If you’re looking for someone to celebrate with, would you go to a sadist? The answer to all these is no. When you have someone that smiles all the time, is generous and genuine, people would always want to be around them. Why? Because they produce good fruits. 

But what are the fruits we are speaking of? They are the result of everything that is inside each and everyone of us. You can’t be a sadist and be able to make people smile. You can’t be a miser or a stingy person and be able to give generously. That is what the fruits we produce entail. As born-again Christians, the bible lists the fruits we are to produce: 

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law." Galatians‬ 5:22-23‬ NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

I like how it ends "against such there is no law!" One of the fruits I’m looking to produce on a consistent basis is self-control. In proverbs, a person without self-control is likened to a city without walls (Pr. 25:28, NKJV) or a house without windows and doors (Pr. 25:28, MSG). Harsh!

If there are fruits of the spirit, you can be sure that there are also fruits of the flesh. What are they? Let’s check it out: 

"Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God." Galatians‬ 5:19-21‬ NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

In order to know who someone truly is, check the fruits they produce. Even in the choice of a spouse, check the fruits they produce. Don’t decide based on they said they’re Christians or that they are workers in church. Check their fruits.

As we go into this week, the charge therefore is to produce the fruits of the spirit. How? By becoming a good tree. In order to become a good tree, it is important to look inwards and take active steps to changing your inner-man. I will also do the same as I know that on various occasions, even this last week, I produced bad fruits. When I realised it, I immediately apologised to the person and prayed to God for forgiveness and for strength to produce good fruits consistently. That is my goal and my pledge to God. I look forward to sharing my testimony and also reading of yours next week on how we produced good fruits all through the week. Have a great week ahead! Stay blessed. Stay grateful.

Faithing Till the End

Once again, here I am in the dark thanks to the disco situation in my area. If you’re like me, there’s a timetable for running the generator 😄. In the dark, still I shine. In the words of the immortal Igwe Tupac, ammo shine when ammo shine 😄. Sage has finally completed the book series known as The Three Musketeers. If you’re a book lover like me, please take the time to download the E-books and submerge yourself in a story of gallantry and uncommon courage. All for one, one for all! What a rallying cry. Anyway, welcome to a new week of signs and wonders. How was last week? For this week, it was laid in my heart to write about Faithing till the end. Thanks to YouTube, I get to watch services in Australia and USA back to back and despite the distance between these two countries, the theme of both services dealt on faith. Faith is one topic that had always made me so excited ever since I was a little boy attending VBS. For someone like me that loves faith so much, you can be sure that Heb. 11 is also my favourite chapter. Recently, my homie puffy and I decided to read Hebrews and it occurred to me that Heb. 11 isn’t the only chapter in Hebrews that deals with faith. So you know that this is a spirikoko something, let’s dive into the bible, call me Michael Phelps lol.

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews‬ 11:1 NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

"The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see" Hebrews‬ 11:1 MSG‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

I love how the MSG translation described faith; it is a handle on what we can’t see. It is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. I don’t know about you but I would like to have a firm foundation under the things that make my life worth living. If you’ve ever been involved in the construction of a house, one thing the constructor does is to make sure that the house has a firm foundation. If you stay in areas like Lekki, Ajah etc. in Lagos Nigeria and you’re building a house, the cost of the foundation is enough to buy a piece of land in some places. Why? This is in order to ensure the house doesn’t sink. This reminds me of the house I grew up in as a child, somewhere in Surulere, Lagos. One fateful day, we got the news that the house was sinking. Imagine that? Why? The foundation wasn’t solid. Now that I think of the parable of the men that built their house, one on sand and the other on rock, it could be said that the rock Jesus was referring to in this parable was faith. We’ll get to that later. Now that we’ve settled on the definition of faith as provided by the bible, let us paint a picture that we can relate to ourselves. Imagine praying to God for one particular thing. Perhaps you want to buy a car.

At the beginning you pray to God, I need a car to ease the burden of transportation. As my Economics teacher once said, Nigeria is the only country in which a car is seen as an asset. So you pray to God for a car, quoting all the scriptures that talk about His blessing and how He has good thoughts in store for you. Would you believe me when I say the beginning is the easiest part? No? Don’t worry…let’s continue the journey. You’ll find your answer at the end. 

Faithing

In Matt. 7:24-27, Jesus gave a parable about two men. One built his house on the rock and the other on sand. The storms of life came and guess whose house was left standing? The man who built his house on faith, the firm foundation! If you read the MSG translation of Matt. 7:24&25, it says: “These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvement to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit—but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock.” Remember that the Hebrews 11:1 MSG translation calls faith the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. Hmm…..rhema!!! Like Daddy (T.D.) Jakes once said, it is easy to have faith at the beginning and at the end but what of the middle? Let’s go back to our earlier illustration. Faithing says Lord I have prayed for a car and I will hold on to you regardless of the storms that blow and make me want to give up. In Ps. 5, David was praying to God and he said something very remarkable in Ps. 5:3 (NKJV):

"My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up"

He could have ended it with "I will direct it to you" but he didn’t. He chose to let God know that he will be expectant and that is what faithing is. Letting God know that though the storms may come, you are still expectant; remember the MSG version of Heb. 11:1? That is it right there! 

We are expected to have faith from the beginning of the prayer to the end. I remember when I was believing God for a car a few years ago (trust me I chose this illustration without remembering I had experienced it), everyday I’d wake up and go online to browse for cars and check out specs. I even went to the dealership to check out the cars, took my NOM (mum) along to check some out. Little did they know that I didn’t even have the money but I held out in faith. Did storms blow? Of course! I remember doing all the permutations and calculations as to how I would arrive at the exact money needed to buy the car; little did I know that the storm of FOREX was on its way and trust me it blew hard! Suddenly all the cars I had been checking out jumped up by as much as 10% in some cases. That’s a lot when you’re scraping around for funds that aren’t even enough. Did it deter me? Naaa. I kept faithing and eventually after the storm of FOREX, my house was still standing. Throughout, I never once gave up and like David said: I will look up. Every day, I looked up to God expectantly, faithing my way till what I couldn’t see became what I saw and drove. Glory be to God!

Here are some practical keys to help you with faithing: 

1. Pray without ceasing, Luke 18:1. Imagine if Daniel had prayed once and stopped, Dan. 10:12-13.
2. Wait expectantly, Ps. 5:3.
3. Search His word for a promise He has made concerning you, Ps. 23, Jer. 29:11, Ps. 126:1-3, Ps. 118:15-16, Ps. 118:17 and Phil. 4:13  are some examples. Search for yours!
4. When you find the word, write it down or bookmark it and meditate on it day and night.
5. Praise Him continuously. When the storm blows, praise Him! When you feel weak, praise Him!

You can add as many more as you want to this list as you feel led to do. 

The charge therefore is to get into the habit of faithing. Even when the storm does its best to discourage you, keep holding on in faith expectant of the end that is in sight. It is not enough to pray and forget about it. We are to pray and wait expectantly till the end (Ps. 5:3).

The Heart of A Champion

This has been quite a roller coaster week. Where to start from? First off, hope you enjoyed our post last week? During the last weekend, there was a crazy flood in Lagos, Nigeria. One guy is spending almost a million to fix his car because he needs to buy a new engine. I saw it on Twitter and ended up going to the same workshop because I also had to replace something in my car. The cost of mine is like 2% of his cost but mhen, it was so unplanned I had to go to my favourite spot and step down with Coke and lime on ice. I also want to pay respect to Bradley Lowery, a young boy that died at the young age of 6 from cancer, my friend’s elder brother, whom I’ll keep anonymous, but was a Warrant Officer in the Nigerian army and members of the armed forces all over the world. Thank you for protecting civilians like myself. I’ve always dreamt of being in the military, an organisation that represents something greater than myself and comprises those that I call the best of us.

What does it mean to have the heart of a champion? Quite simply, it means believing in our ability to succeed and overcome regardless of what our current circumstances may say. It is not an easy thing to do but as believers, it is what we must do. If you think about it, that’s what faith entails (Heb. 11:1-3). In order to have faith, you need to have the heart of a champion. Faith is us saying: I am rich even when the present circumstance says otherwise; I am healed even when the sickness is terminal. When I think of this, Bradley Lowery comes to mind.

This was a kid with the heart of a champion. Despite the fact that he had terminal cancer, he was seen smiling, playing football, having a bed party and not allowing his sickness stop him from enjoying life and putting smiles on the faces of people. Our hero in the Three Musketeers, D’artagnan is another person with such a heart and this is one of the reasons I love him so much. Even when facing the enemy with the threat of being overcome by bullets, you'll only hear one thing from him: "CHARGE!" There are so many examples in the bible of men who had the heart of a champion. One of such people is King David; a man after God’s heart. No matter the situation, he faced it headlong believing that he would overcome the obstacle. A bear came, no problem. A lion? No problem. Goliath? 

"Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God." I Samuel‬ 17:36‬ NKJV‬‬‬‬

Imagine the heart of such a man, imagine what faith he had! However, even when we have the heart of a champion, from time to time, things will happen that either discourage us or make us want to give up. What then do we do? King David gives us a perfect example:

"Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God." I Samuel‬ 30:6‬ NKJV‬‬. ‬‬

He and his men returned back to their city and their families had been taken captive. This is an example of when life gives you lemons. His men spoke of stoning him. Imagine being the leader of a team and you hear your team members plotting to get you fired. But what did he do? He strengthened himself in the Lord, sought God for direction on what step to take and went after the enemy. That is what is expected of us. Make lemonade from the lemons life throws at you. How? By going to the creator of the lemon; God and strengthening yourself in Him. Afterwards, do like D’artagnan, face the obstacle and scream CHARGE!!

The charge therefore this week is to have the heart of a champion (by having faith), face your obstacle and scream charge! Even when you get knocked back or rejected, strengthen yourself in the Lord, pick yourself up like David and go after that thing without fear. Never lose your fight! Remember, fear is the opposite of faith. Also, as you face that obstacle keep smiling and enjoying life like the hero Bradley Lowery did in his great but brief lifetime. RIP Brad and Warrant Officer M. Gone but never forgotten.

P.S. I eventually sent the previous posts to my mum. Rest assured my house will undergo a bath of anointing oil soon. In three musketeers news, I wish I didn’t read the remaining series. I have to deal with the fact that my heroes fell out with each other on several occasions. Sigh!
